“Knee high by the Fourth of July” (from my husband), “Don’t swim for an hour after you eat” and “it’s so hot you could fry an egg on the sidewalk”. Do these sayings conjure up memories of summers past? My childhood memories are of me and my best friend Donna, begging either my Mama or hers to take us to the pool. Those were the olden days when all the neighbors sat outside on their front lawns in the evening and talked back and forth across the street while the kids played games. Boy, those cement sidewalks were hot on bare feet.

But summer these days is not only about hot temperatures, it is about cool things to do and TMCS is all about cool things! Get the family together and sign up for the Bicycle Trip on June 24th, be seen on the “runway” at the American Girl Tea Party and Style show on July 25th or grab your buddies and “Race Around Tipp” avoiding roadblocks, detours and completing tasks for your clues.

If you are planning a vacation, that is great; but don’t forget TMCS Summer Vacation at the Park and TGIF. Kids 4-10 can have mornings filled with crafts, games and stimulating activities all without traveling too far and still come home to sleep in their own beds.

Dancers, artists and the theatrical, we did not leave you out – there are two weeks of Art Camp, a theatrical workshop, dancing, tumbling, watercolor and weaving, just to name a few.

Put that rake back in the garage and sign up for something fun, learn a new hobby or just put a “new wrinkle” in your brain. Neither childhood nor summer lasts forever so don’t squander the long beautiful days ahead. Kick off your shoes and pretend you are a kid again, but be careful of those hot sidewalks!
